Spain tightens travel restrictions amid concerns over omicron coronavirus variant

Travellers to Spain will require a full vaccination certificate

From 1 December, 2021 In order to entry into Spain you must present a vaccination certificate, showing that you have received the full vaccination programme, OR a Diagnostic Certificate, showing you have tested negative for COVID,

Visitors from the United Kingdom who are not EU residents will now only be able to enter the country if they are fully vaccinated, while those from ‘high-risk’ areas will need to provide a negative Covid test in addition to proof of vaccination

  • 1. Vaccination certificate (at least 14 days from the last dose of vaccination). Accepted vaccines: Pfizer-Biontech, Moderna, Astra-Zeneca, Jansen/Johnson & Johnson, Sinovac y Sinopharm. The vaccination certificate must include at least the following information:
  • 2. Diagnostic certificate. The diagnostic certificate must illustrate a negative COVID-19 test result (NAAT type, e.g TMA, PCR, LAMP & NEAR) issued within 72 hours of arrival into Spain. Antigen tests will not be accepted. Please bear in mind that before travelling to Spain (even in transit) you must have the QR code which is obtained from filling in the Health Control Form (FCS in Spanish) available in Spain Travel Health (SpTH). ⚠️ Important: Bear in mind that you cannot use the paper form. You must download your QR code and show it to the national authorities either on your mobile device or printed on paper European Medicines Agency or by the World Health Organisation

Who has to fill in the electronic health control form to enter Spain?

All passengers entering Spain from other countries. In compliance with the provisions of Royal Decree-Law 8/2021, of 4 May, all passengers originating from any airport or port located outside Spanish territory must complete this form. Including international passengers connecting at a Spanish airport with a final destination in another country.

What do I need to complete the electronic health control form?

To fill out the Public Health Form:,

  1. you need to have on hand: Identity document number (passport, National Id card (DNI), etc.)
  2. Information about your trip (arrival date, flight number/ship name, company, seat/cabin number etc.)
  3. Information about your stay in Spain
  4. Email address
  5. All passengers who come from a high-risk country in relation to the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, require a document certifying vaccination, diagnostic test or COVID-19 recovery. Children under 12 years of age are not required to present these documents.

 

This certificate or supporting document must be the original, will be written in Spanish and / or English and may be presented in paper or electronic format. The document will contain, at least, the following information: traveler's name, passport or ID number, date of the test, identification and contact details of the centre that performs the analysis, technique used and negative test result.

The personal identification number (passport / DNI) that you used to get your QR must be the same as the one that appears on the negative PCR certificate.

The airlines or shipping companies will check that the QR code is obtained from the health control documents without, under any circumstances, accessing the information contained in them.

Upon arrival in Spain, you may be subjected to a health check at the airport and after the evaluation carried out by the health authority (including the documents control) you may be required to undergo a diagnostic test for COVID-19.
